Other Willards

There are several different Willard families in the United States.  Extensive research has been done on other Willard branches by other groups.  This page is intended to give a brief synopsis to fellow genealogists to guide their research down the right branch of the Willard tree.

There are several spelling variations of the name Willard over the years which has made it difficult to track.  Several of the websites below have good articles on name variations.

Major Simon Willard (1605-1676)

Son of Richarde Willarde, born in Horsemondon, Kent England. He arrived in America in May of 1634 with his brother George and sister Margery. The Willard Family Association is a group of descendants of Simon Willard.  They also have a vast collection of Willard genealogies of all Willard families and welcome all Willards to their organization.

It is still possible that Beverly Willard is a descendant of Simon Willard.

Another source of Willard information is a website run by Charles Willard who is a descendant of Simon Willard.  His website is www.willardgenalogy.com.  It contains information about his lineage as well as having another website dedicated to information on the De Walt Willard line (see next section).

De Walt Willard

De Walt Willard a sister and three brothers came to America from Germany in 1746 and settled in Maryland.  Information about this family can be found at Charles Willard's other site at  www.geocities.com/crwillard.

William Willard

William was born in 1755 Leesburg,VA.  Some recent research indicates that this branch of Willards may have been Woollard prior to William.
